John Vestal, CPA

Principal

John Vestal grew up in El Paso, Texas. Before getting his bachelor and masters degrees in accounting from New Mexico State University, he served in the U.S. Army’s Honor Guard Company as a sentinel and relief commander at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. After college graduation, he began his career at the accounting firm Coopers & Lybrand in El Paso. He joined Penan & Scott, P.C. in 2000.

Today, John is a principal at Penan & Scott, P.C. John works with businesses of all sizes preparing audited and reviewed financial statements and tax returns. He is involved in complex tax planning, and financial and tax consulting. He works with a large variety of industries with an emphasis on government and construction contractors.

John is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.

In his spare time John enjoys reading, traveling, relaxing at the beach, and time in the New Mexico and Colorado mountains. He is an avid fan of “Hatch green chile” from New Mexico.
